Where did all the vino go?

Today was another day train, this time to Siena. So off we went to Certaldo to get on the train. Thankfully we are all now experts at getting our train tickets, However we all hate the parking meter as it is evil and makes us a little insane.

One we got to Siena, our first task was to find the open market, Because most of us just like to shop. We exited the train station and basically stood there trying to figure out where to go, When an angel from Portland, Oregon showed up while on His daily walk and asked us if we needed help. He actually walked us right to the market and then pointed us in the direction to the Piazza Del Campo, Which is where we wanted to go after the market.

The market sells everything from housewares to shoes. We split up and headed out to bolster the local economy in Siena. We stopped at several shops and found several Things That the girls liked. When we asked about sizes, every time the reply was, "Only one size." Well we are here to tell you, one size does not fit all, Especially if you are Americans. In some cases, not even close. Priceless.

We all met up again and ambled our way along the streets of Siena to find the Piazza Del Campo. Siena is known for this area. This is where they hold a horse race That runs twice a year. It Began back in the 14th century and there are 10 horses and riders That Represent the 17 city wards. It circles the Piazza del Campo three times and takes about 90 seconds to finish. Apparently it is common for some of the riders to get thrown off of Their horses. I think it must be like NASCAR, people watch to see the accidents.

Our first stop in the square was to have lunch and get a group picture. One of us Decided they only wanted ice cream for lunch. You would not think it would be Bibby our resident health and fitness expert, but yes, yes it was, Bibby had ice cream for lunch.

After lunch it was on to shopping blackberries, blackberries, walking, shopping blackberries, blackberries, walking, shopping blackberries, blackberries walking ... I guess you get the picture.

Bibby Has Been telling us how She Has alligator arms and only buys things if she needs them and they are a good deal. Tonight after our shopping day in Siena, she had to admit That we are opening a whole new world to her on how shopping can be fun. That I can guarantee you she will have many more shopping opportunities before we leave.

Below are a few pics from Siena.

We made our way back to the villa where we had another dinner of salad, bread, strawberries, etc.. To our horror, we found That we were almost out of wine. Seriously?!?! Where did all the wine go?? Mary Bibby, and Diane made an emergency trip up to the front office in order to buy some wine. They were closed, However the lady who cleans the building was there and "borrowed" us several bottles of wine That we can pay for tomorrow. The best news is the wine here is really, really good and quite inexpensive.

We spent the evening with the house mama (Bibby) providing chair massages to Those in need. Otherwise Their was some singing and dancing and a lot of talking about Things That can not be repeated on this blog, Because some things are just for 8broadsabroad.

Tomorrow's plan is to sleep in and then find some wineries to tour, then maybe a return visit San Gimignano.

Yes, Mark we all still like each other. =)

Hello for now!
