Tuscany, Day One is Done

After unloading the cars we new the first thing that would need to happen would be a quick trip to the market.  We ventured out to the town of Certaldo, it was closer than one of the other markets we had passed on the way to find the villa and heck why not explore some more of Tuscany.

I'll confess, we did pay for a GPS device, but we have quickly learned that just like SIRI, the GPS does what it wants. Thank goodness Kim is on this trip, she has a uncanny knack of remembering how we got somewhere, which made getting back to the villa from COOP much easier.

COOP is the local grocery store.  It isn't a cooperative, like we all thought, and is actually pronounce coop as in chicken coop.  It was huge with a variety of everything.  We filled the cart with essentials, fruit, numerous bread items, cheeses, priscouto, turkey, lots of water, and numerous bottles of wine. Yes, this was to primarily get us through the night and breakfast.  Some of the girls put out a spread of the different, breads, cheeses, etc. in the kitchen.  A bottle or two of wine may have been opened and we all sat out on the patio and did what we always do, eat and drink wine.  Saturday night was finished off with more wine, gelato, and some piano music supplied by Cheryl and Dana.  All in all day 1 in Italy was awesome.

Here are a few pictures from outside the villa.  We are so blessed!

The "schedule" for the next several days is to spend Sunday just chilling out at the villa, Monday in San Gimignano, Tuesday will be a food and wine walking tour in Florence, and Wednesday will be spent in Siena.

Caio for now!
