We loaded up our vehicles, which was no easy feat as there have been numerous purchases made while in Tuscany, and headed south towards Rome. The instructions from the lead car to the trailing car were, and I quote "Buckle up and pedal down, Cheryl is going to drive like an Italian." Again, the plan was well executed. We made it to Rome in half the time it took us to get to Tuscany. Woohoo!
All was going well until about the last 30 minutes of the excursion, which all took place while in Rome. The goal was to find the EuropCar agency to return our vehicles. The return was at the Roma Termini. The GPS took us to the terminal, however we couldn't find the EuropCar agency. I think the expectation was that we would be driving the car into a ramp to return it. Not so much, you find a place to park, which is NEVER easy here, and then walk into the terminal to return the car. All of this was topped off by the fact that the lead car was running on fumes, no bars left on the ole gas gauge. But everything turned out for the best.
Our driver was waiting for us at the terminal and we loaded all of the massive amounts of luggage into the van, piled in and off we went to our new home for the next 4 nights.
This apartment is beautiful, we can walk to all the cafes and shops we could ever want and apparently we are also very close to the vatican and other historical locations. We will find out tomorrow as our first tour starts at 8:30 AM.
Here are a few pics from inside the apartment. These aren't the best and if I have time I will take some better ones. What can I say, it is late, I am tired and this is all I've got for now.
Yes, people, we all still like each other!
Ciao for now....
