Day 2 - Sometimes A Change of Plans Makes for the Best Day

The day took an unexpected turn, when the weather decided to be overcast and a bit rainy.  The tour company contacted us and we rescheduled today's planned excursion to tomorrow.

We began the day by taking a stroll to Porto's oldest coffee shop, Majestic Cafe.  Oops, did I say stroll, I meant death march up hills, so many hills.  Totally worth it though as the various coffee beverages and breakfast treats were enjoyed by all.

After the cafe we walked down the Rue de Santa Catarina to check out the shops, etc. Stopping in the middle of the lane to get a quick selfie done, because you never know when one will be a "framer".

This is the Capela de Alias de Santa Catarina chapel.  All of these hand painted tiles.  Just so amazing to see the artistry and workmanship.

If you put a foot in, then you are all in...

We came across the Bolhao Market, which inspired the decision to get shrimp, caprese salad, bread, olives, cheese, flavored olive oils, etc and have dinner back at the apartment.  It is always fun to wander through a market.

On the way to Rocky's for a little lunch, we found the local McDonald's.  No worries, we didn't eat here, just stopped to take a look around.  This building is a big step up from what we have back home.

Lunch was pizza and cocktails.  All were so very good.

After lunch we were off to check out the Train Station.  As with the most of the places we have been, the architecture is amazing and the tile work is just wow...

While in the train station, one of the girls noticed a restaurant built up on about a 4 story pedestal.  We had to go check it out, thank goodness this place had an elevator for those of us who had no desire to walk up all those steps.  The Sala de Proves has beautiful views and very tasty beverages.

and look who found a big bucket of wine...

This restaurant is also where Dana decided to make a boomerang video clip for her IG.  After numerous failed attempts. Cheryl says, "Wait, stop, do yourself first and make sure it works."  Nothing like one of your besties telling you she was done.  Seriously laughter ensued and I am sure the other patrons were ready for the loud Americans to leave.

Finished the day back at the apartment.  Ate our market finds for dinner.  Indulged in more wine and conversation and of course a trip down for gelato.

What a great day of unexpected fun, food, and laughter.

Hasta Luego
