So Much for a leisurely morning

The plan was to have a leisurely breakfast, go back to our rooms, pack our bags and then meet our driver to head out to the coast where the ship would be waiting for us to board.  Ah, the best laid plans...

I had just gotten to the lobby where I was going to finish up the first blog post.  Heidi was there with a cup of coffee and I sat down to join her.  About 10 minutes later Kim came off the elevator, with a “oh crap” look on her face to tell us our driver was already here, 3 hours early.

Let’s just say that this led to a change of plans, we all headed back to our rooms and quickly packed, piled into the van and off we went to the port of Civitavecchia.

Heidi, being ever optimistic, stated that the driver getting here early was a sign and something good was going to happen.  I would add that all the crazy that can happen while on holiday is just part of the adventure, so just roll with it.  Yes, I did just say holiday, we have decided that sounds much more fancy than vacation.

We arrived at the port at about 11:00 AM and Heidi was correct, we didn’t have to wait until 2:00 to board the ship.  They took our luggage and about 20 minutes later we were onboard and headed to our staterooms.
We took advantage of the early boarding and went up to the Sanctuary to reserve some super cushy chairs for the day we will be at sea.  The Sanctuary is a special area that holds only about 60 guests.  You have an adults only pool, designated chairs, that we picked, and other little special items that allow us to pretend that we are super special.  Actually it is just our way of not having to be fight for a lounge chair with the other thousands of people and also allows us to be in the shade.  Twenty or so years ago, we would have fought to be in the sun all day, now we need to know we can have shade breaks and comfortable lounge chairs.
We went up to the spa to ensure our spa appointments were booked,  Heidi, aka Bibby, met her massage therapist, who’s name just happens to be Bibi.  A sure sign of something, we don’t know what, but something.
The rest of the day we wandered the ship and did what we do the most of when we are together, we ate, drank, told stories, and laughed.
Looking forward to our first excursion tomorrow on the Amalfi coast.

Just in case you are wondering, yes, we still like each other.

Caio!
