The topic of the evening was primarily around where we want to go while in Tuscany and Rome. We decided to focus on Tuscany first. You can't go to Tuscany without going to Florence. Florence is known as the cradle of the Renaissance and has so much to see and experience we know that we will be heading there for a couple of days at least.
Ponte Vecchio is one of Florence's most celebrated landmarks and has spanned the river banks since the 12th Century. Personally, I am very excited to experience all of the old architecture and see the orignial sculpture of David, the galleries and piazzas.
Also part of the plan is a visit to Chianti and San Gimignano. Chianti because of well...the good wine, delicious food and beautiful scenery.
San Gimignano, please don't ask me to pronounce it, I get it wrong every time. This is near our villa and allows you to step back in time and enjoy its incredible history and its local products including saffron and white wine. I think I may need to start working on my tolerance levels for wine as drinking it seems to be a recurring theme for this trip.
Well as far as a plan goes, this is certainly a good start. Who knows how it will change once we are there and running amuck, but while we are in Tuscany this is definitely some of the places we want to experience.
